Scholarship Coverage
The Scholarship Programme provides the recipient with the following benefits:
- A room in the shared student flats is equipped in Berlin.
- The cost of living allowance is provided as per calculations.
- The tuition fee is waived.
- Travel allowance for your journey to Berlin before your studies and your trip to your home town after completing the degree is provided to the scholarship holders.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the SBW Berlin Scholarship program, the applicant must fulfill the following criteria.
- Required Language: English.
- Eligible Countries: All world countries.
- Age Limitation: 18-30 years old
- Applicants should either be fully enrolled in the first, second, or max third semester at a state-recognized university (in Germany or abroad) before starting their higher education or applying for a master’s degree shortly before or after obtaining a bachelor’s degree. Average grades correspond to the German grade point average of at least 2.0.
- Applicants who can demonstrate a relatively low net income. Applicants’ total household income does not exceed the average income officially reported for their home country. The income of all household members and all sources of family income (e.g., employment, business activity, property, child benefits, or pensions) will be considered.
- Experience with extracurricular activities: Applicants who have professional or volunteer experience in the non-profit sector.

How to Apply for the SBW Berlin Scholarship?
Kindly follow the instructions below for a successful application to the scholarship program.
Kindly note that you should accept admission, acceptance, and evidence of eligibility to any of the universities in Berlin or Potsdam.
(1) Fill in the application form.
(2) Fill in the personal & contact information, and add your photograph.
(3) Information on your current and past education is to be provided.
(4) Provide information about the following:
- Information regarding the applicant’s parents and members of the household.
- Most recent school or university certificate
- Highest school leaving certificate
- Highest obtained university degree
- Current occupation and desired career
- Training information in case of the application for any vocational training
- Internships and professional experience
- Your skills, hobbies, and interests
- Travel abroad experience
- Volunteering experience
(5) Include the following documents:
- Motivation letter of around 1 or 2 pages long.
- Copy of the last school (or) university certificate which shows your GPA
- Grade overview of the applicant
- copy of the highest academic degree i.e., high school diploma (or) university certificate.
If possible copies of the following documents may also be provided:
- University admission or proof of your qualification for university admission
- A copy of an internationally recognized language certificate for the language you speak
- the course will be taught
- All previous work, training, course sheets and certificates, and references
- If you have already started studying: everyone has obtained university certificates and records so far
- achievements (graded and ungraded)
Note: Uncertified copies and translations are sufficient for the application. If the applicant successfully selects, certified copies of some of these documents will be required during the verification process.
(6) The application and all attached confirmations and documents must be submitted in German or English via email to application@sbw.berlin.
The final decision on whether a scholarship (starting the following semester) will be granted can be expected at the beginning of February and August of each year.

Application Deadline
Application for SBW Berlin Scholarship 2024 is available between 15th May 2023 to 30th June and between 15th November to 31st December annually.
