The Humboldt Research Fellowship 2024-2025 offered only to Post-Doctoral programs are fully funded grants for international students. It includes a monthly stipend of 3150 Euros and additional support (financial) for accompanying assets and family members.
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation helps highly qualified researchers from abroad who have just started their academic career and have completed their Ph.D. less than 4 years ago to spend longer research periods (6-24 months) in Germany.
The research policy is implemented in cooperation with the academic hosts of German research institutes. Applicants choose their research topic and host in Germany. Details of the research plan, including information on the intended duration of the grant, must be agreed with the proposed host before application. Short-term visits for study and training or to attend conferences are not eligible for sponsorship.

Coverages of the Humboldt Research Fellowship
The Humboldt Research Fellowship offers the following benefits:
- 2 Monthly scholarships of 670 euros for postdoctoral researchers (doctorate completed in the last four years). 3 Monthly stipends of 150 euros for postdoctoral fellows (with a doctorate completed in the last 12 years).
- Flexible start date and for experienced researchers the possibility to share the stipend during up to three stays.
- Individual mentoring during the sponsorship period.
- Intensive German language course for peers and their spouses before receiving the scholarship.
- Additional financial support for associated family members and assets, such as travel expenses and comprehensive alumni sponsorship at the end of the research trip, such as a return or stay stipend in Germany.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a Humboldt Research Fellowship 2024 program, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- Required language: English or German
- Eligible countries: all countries of the world
- Doctorate or equivalent academic degree (PhD, CSC, or equivalent) of 4 years or less.
- Academic publications that are internationally peer-reviewed and printed according to standards in journals and publishers.
- Confirmation of the availability of research opportunities, a mentoring agreement, and a detailed expert opinion from the German academic host research institute.
- Expert assessments of the Ph.D. supervisor and other academics who can give reasoned comments on the applicant’s qualifications, preferably also reviewers who do not work in the applicant’s institution.
- Required language skills: humanities or social sciences and medicine: German, otherwise good English language skills; natural sciences and technology: good knowledge of German or English.
- The Humboldt Foundation expects applicants to adhere to the rules of good research practice and legally binding principles of research ethics during the application and sponsorship periods.

Follow the steps below to apply for a Humboldt Research Fellowship:
(1). You must choose two hosts in Germany (either people or an institute) and ask them for confirmation and evaluation for the study.
Note: If you choose an institute as your host, you must specify the period of your stay.
(2). Create an account here and attach the following documents:

- Research overview (maximum five pages).
- Full list of publications.
- List of selected most important publications.
- Main publications.
- Doctorate certificate of study.
- German language certificate, if available.
- Summaries or translations of main publications.

- Two experts review.
- In addition, if necessary: receipt and receipt(s) from the publisher and summaries or translations of major publications.
