Schwarzman Scholars Programme 2025 in China (Fully Funded)

The Schwarzman Scholars Programme is a fully-funded international master’s degree scholarship program based at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. It was founded by Stephen A. Schwarzman, an American business magnate and philanthropist, to cultivate a new generation of global leaders who will play key roles in addressing the world’s challenges.

The program is designed to bring together outstanding young professionals from around the world, with diverse backgrounds and interests, who have demonstrated leadership potential and academic excellence. It is open to candidates aged 18-28 who are about to complete their undergraduate degree or have already graduated. The program covers tuition, room and board, and travel expenses, and provides a stipend for books and supplies, health insurance, and a laptop.

Schwarzman Scholars Programme engages in a one-year Master’s degree program in Global Affairs, which includes coursework, seminars, workshops, and experiential learning. The curriculum is interdisciplinary, focusing on public policy, economics and business, international relations, and Chinese culture and history. Scholars also participate in leadership training, mentoring, and professional development activities, as well as opportunities for cultural exchange and networking with prominent global leaders.

One of the unique features of the Schwarzman Scholars Programme is its emphasis on China and its role in global affairs. Scholars have an opportunity to study Mandarin and gain insights into China’s history, culture, economy, and political system. Upon completion of the program, Schwarzman Scholars join an alumni network that spans over 150 countries and includes influential leaders from various fields, including politics, business, academia, and civil society. The opportunity to study in a one-year, fully financed master’s degree program in Global Affairs at Schwarzman College on the campus of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, will be given to the 151 students who were chosen from 36 nations and 121 universities throughout the world. The outstanding caliber of the admitted students this year shows that future leaders are still committed to comprehending and building cross-cultural relationships with China. Schwarzman gives 200 scholarships each year to Tsinghua University in Beijing to pursue a master’s degree for free. The top-ranked university in China and number 15 in the world is Tsinghua University.

Based on their leadership potential, academic excellence, and dedication to promoting cross-cultural understanding and global advancement, the program chooses 100–200 Scholars each year. Selected students attend Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University to complete a one-year master’s degree in global affairs. From a starting pool of close to 3,000 candidates, the admissions committee chose the entering students for this academic year. The Schwarzman Scholars network has grown to more than 1,000 members with the new cohort, including Scholars from a total of 88 nations and 390 institutions worldwide.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must possess a BS or bachelor’s degree. Those who are applying must be on pace to complete all degree requirements before the due date of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year. Condition applies to those, who are presently enrolled in the undergraduate degree programs. No prerequisites exist for any undergraduate study area; any area is acceptable.
  • Aged between 18 and 28.
  • Able to speak and write English as well. In case English is not the applicant’s first language, English proficiency test results must be given with the application. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT) is a valid test option. score of at least 600. Test of English as a Foreign Language via the Internet (TOEFL iBT). a 100 minimum score. IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. Minimum rating: 7.
  • For applicants who studied at an undergraduate institution where English was the primary language of instruction for at least two years of their academic program, the language requirement is waived.
