Eligibility Criteria

  • To qualify for a CSU scholarship, a candidate must meet the following requirements:

Language Required:

Students applying for programs taught in Chinese should obtain a minimum score of 220 in HSK4 for Science and Engineering programs and 260 in HSK4 for Arts, Social Sciences, and Medicine programs (for Bachelor of Chinese Language and Literature a minimum score of 200 in HSK5 ); Students who do not meet the Chinese language requirement will take a one-year preparatory Chinese language course and meet the above HSK requirements before starting their programs.
Persons who meet one of the following conditions are exempt from proving their language skills:

a) Applicants whose official language of his/her country is Chinese (or) English.

b) Applicants who have completed a study program whose language of instruction is Chinese or English.

Eligible countries for CSU Scholarship

  • Outstanding non-Chinese citizens, with no criminal record and in good health.
  • Applicants for the bachelor’s degree must have a high school diploma (or) its equivalent degree and be between the ages of 18 and 25 for a master’s degree, the applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and be between the ages of 18 and 35; for the doctoral degree, applicants should have a master’s degree or its equivalent and be between 18 and 40 years of age. Applicants who are under the age of 18 must not be under the age of 16 with a legal guardian living in China.
  • Applicants for graduate programs must have a strong academic background and innovative research capabilities.

How to Apply for the CSU Scholarship?

Follow the instructions given below to apply for the CSU Scholarship:

(1) Create an account on the university website and complete the application form.

(2) Submit the following required application materials to the University:

  • Photocopy of passport (available for more than one year)
  • Photocopy of physical inspection record .pdf. The alien physical examination record requirement should rigorously screen applicants. An incomplete form is considered invalid. The exam date is after December 1, 2021.
  • Photocopy of graduation certificate or notarized certificate translated into Chinese/English. If the applicant is currently enrolled, a school report card is required.
  • Stamped transcript of highest diploma or notarized transcript translated into Chinese/English.
  • Non-criminal record or document translated into Chinese/English with the official stamp.
  • Transcript of HSK for programs taught in Chinese and IELTS\TOEFL for programs taught in English or other documents proving your language proficiency.
  • Two different letters of recommendation from professors/associates with contact details.
  • A study plan of at least 800 words. Please clarify your research background, method, content and significance, etc. (For Graduates only)
  • Published essays or any other supporting materials eg .doc format of acceptance letter (for graduates only)

(3) The School of International Education will conduct an initial check on the applicant’s identity, language ability, physical and mental status, etc. When applicants pass the initial check, pay the application fee of RMB 500 on CSU’s unified payment platform by email (WeChat, Alipay, and UnionPay are available);

Please pay the application fee within two weeks, otherwise, the application will not proceed. If you fail the screening, you do not have to pay the application fee.

(4) Academic review: Relevant schools will conduct an academic review for applicants to comprehensively check their academic background, scientific research ability, or innovation potential.

(5) Publication of results: Based on the application and control situation, the final admission result will be published through the admission email. FINAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT IS CONDITIONED ON RECEIVING AN ACCEPTANCE EMAIL! In addition, the acceptance notice and visa application form will be sent accordingly. Application status will be informed in the CSU China International Student Service System. Please check your application system inbox and your email in time.

(6) Annual review: All scholarship students will undergo an annual scholarship evaluation based on academic and daily performance during the previous academic year, and students will continue to use the scholarships after passing the review. Otherwise, the scholarship will be suspended.

Note:

(a) The above materials will be provided in English or Chinese. Materials in other languages ​​should be notarized in Chinese or English.

(b) An applicant (one or both of whose parents are Chinese citizens residing abroad) born to a foreign nationality applying for admission as a foreign student must have held a valid foreign passport or certificate of nationality for more than 4 years and within the last 4 years of age (by April 30 in the year of admission), must have a record of residence abroad for more than 2 years (actual residence for 9 months of the year can be calculated as 1 year). The calculation is based on input and output stamps. Proof of renunciation of Chinese nationality is required.

(c) Application fees will not be refunded and materials will not be returned regardless of admission results and most prospective candidates will be enrolled based on the application materials. Final financial support is conditional on the acceptance email, NOT THE SYSTEM INTERFACE OR THE INTERFACE YOU REQUEST. Please check the email you received.

(d) The winter vacation period is from 26 January to 27 February 2023 and review of the application will be postponed accordingly. The initial review time is generally 2-4 weeks and the academic review time is usually provided by the relevant school.
