Applications usually open in the fall and close in early February. However, the 2024 application deadline has already passed.

Be sure to check out the official website (https://buffettscholarships.org/) about the deadlines in the fall and the application materials for the next cycle.

Here are some of the application materials you will likely need to submit (specific requirements may vary slightly each year):

  • Completed online application: This includes basic information about yourself, your academic background, and your college plans.
  • One Letter of Recommendation: Choose a teacher, counselor, or other person who speaks to your academic ability, work ethic, and potential for success in college.
  • Financial documents: You must provide a document that proves your financial need. This is usually your Student Aid Report (SAR), prepared after completing the FAFSA.
  • High School Transcript: Request an official transcript from your high school to be submitted to the scholarship program.
  • Short Answers: You will probably be asked to answer some short answer prompts (usually within the word limit) about your goals, aspirations, and reasons for applying for the scholarship.
  • Consent Form: A consent form is usually required to give the scholarship program permission to verify your information.

Since financial documents and statements are required to apply, it is wise to begin gathering these materials well in advance of the deadline.
