To facilitate exceptional emerging research leaders and researchers worldwide, the KAUST Global Fellowship program provides an amazing opportunity for independent employment. It motivates a new generation of engineers and scientists to explore global challenges & find solutions for the betterment of humanity.

The merit-based program targets outstanding postdoctoral fellows with wonderful ideas to complement, support, promote, and advance KAUST’s major research projects. In the “Research First” environment, global fellows have full access to key research tools, equipment, unparalleled facilities, and expertise, surrounded by a community of excellence.

Fellowship Benefits

  1. Funding: Each research proposal is granted up to $40,000 in funding, with a separate living allowance of $75,000 per year, as well as benefits such as health insurance, housing, and tuition for two children or more. Our researchers can fully focus on the research they provide.

How to Apply

For the applicant to be eligible for this grant:

  1. The applicant received a doctorate within 4 solar years (i.e., applicants in 2024 must receive a doctorate in Jan. 2020 onwards);
  2. Completion of Ph.D. before the start of the grant;
  3. must be willing to relocate to KAUST to carry out a planned three-year research project;
  4. The application must mention the KAUST faculty who approved and agreed to host them and their research project if successful.

  2. Duration is 3 years;
  3. comply with the budgetary and financial guidelines of the call;
  4. Use the template provided.

KAUST Global Fellowship Program supports research by the programs of KAUST’s academic departments; Biological and Environmental Science and Engineering (BESE), Computer Science, Electrical and Mathematical Sciences and Engineering (CEMSE), and Physical Sciences and Engineering (PS).

  2. Any of your two publications on PDF File.
  3. Your research proposal and all relevant attachments as a single document (using the template provided);
  4. Support letter from KAUST Host PI (using the provided template);
  5. Two reference letters must be uploaded or received directly from system referees.
