Fulbright Scholarship Program in the US: The Fulbright Master’s and Doctoral Program provides funding for undergraduate studies in the United States. Funded by the US State Department, these scholarships cover tuition, required textbooks, airfare, living expenses, and health insurance. USEFP also helps with the visa process.
An eligible candidate for a master’s program has either a four-year bachelor’s degree or a combination of a bachelor’s and master’s degree that includes a total of 16 years of formal education at an accredited university. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply, except MBA and Public Policy/Management applicants who require 2 years of work experience.
Eligible candidates for the doctoral program have a master’s degree, master’s degree, master’s degree, or equivalent degree from an accredited university (at least 18 years of formal education). Candidates should have teaching, research, or public sector experience in Pakistan.
All academic subjects, except clinical medicine, are suitable for master’s and doctoral studies. All applicants must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE General). Under the new scoring system, the minimum score required for each section of the GRE is 145, with a higher score being the most appropriate for your field of study. Applicants must also be proficient in spoken and written English. All applicants must take the Duo lingo test.
All successful candidates must sign an agreement with USEFP and a bond for successful Ph.D. graduates with HEC, obliging them to return to Pakistan immediately after completing their program in the United States and serve the country for several years equal to the duration of their fellowship program. This contract can be redeemed annually for at least two years; as long as the person fulfills the service requirements, he does not pay anything.

Eligibility Criteria
Pakistani nationals with a strong academic record who reside (during the process) in Pakistan and are committed to returning and serving Pakistan are invited to apply.
- All majors except clinical medicine are eligible. People working in the fields of energy, water management, health, education, environment, and climate change are encouraged to apply.
- Eligible master’s degree applicants have a 4-year bachelor’s degree or a combination of bachelor’s and master’s degrees (16 years of formal education) and Ph.D. candidates or an equivalent degree (18 years of formal education) from an accredited university.
- Applicants must be prepared to terminate benefits without being dependent if necessary.
- Pakistani nationals with a strong academic record who reside (during the process) in Pakistan and are committed to returning and serving Pakistan are invited to apply.

Who is ineligible for the Fulbright Scholarship Program?
- Individuals with US/Pakistani dual citizenship or individuals whose spouse, parent, or child over the age of 18 is a US citizen or permanent resident.
- Fulbright, US State Department or USAID employees/contractors and their spouses, children, siblings, dependents, and parents.
- Individuals who have already received one Fulbright award for any graduate program.
- Individuals already studying in the United States or holding a work/resident/student visa in any country.
Documents Required
The following documents are required to apply for the Fulbright Scholarship 2024 Program:
- Three reference letters
- An application form
- GRE score report
- Scanned transcripts must be uploaded, including an explanation of the degree scale of the degree-granting university. Please note that documents certified by HEC are recommended with the application, but degrees and transcripts certified by the certifying body are accepted with the application.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. The application along with references and necessary supporting documents must be submitted online. Please note that paper applications are not accepted.

- People in energy, water management, agriculture, public health, education, social sciences, journalism and mass communication, arts and culture, management, including cultural heritage conservation and museum research, urban and regional planning, environmental science/research, security/peace research, and data science are strongly recommended to apply.
- You can also apply for an MBA degree if you have a bachelor’s degree (16 years of education). To apply for an MBA degree, it is recommended to have at least 2 years of work experience in the desired field.
